I'm Amy - a board-certified music therapist who is passionate about music and transformation. My mission is to empower your mind, body, and soul to transformative wellness and growth.
Inclusive environments, safe spaces, and places where you can relax, release tension, and learn to embrace a more loving life. Whether you are seeking personal care, or group interaction, I can help facilitate your path to wellness.
As a board-certified music therapist, I am trained to harness the multifaceted powers of music. Together, we will create, discover, and utilize and learn about resources that assist in many ways to overcome life's challenges. My person-centered approach focuses on holistic well-being, healing, self-care, and mentorship in a nurturing space. Your physical, mental, and emotional health are important, and I'm here to assist you by providing a variety of programs and services.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you have anxiety and are unable to calm down on your own? Do you overthink life? Do you want to learn how to use music to alleviate pain? Music therapy is an allied health profession. Music therapist must meet strict educational and field experience requirements and pass a board certification exam in order to hold this title. Certifications are renewed on a five-year rolling basis, and music therapist must complete a minimum level of continued education requirements. I have experience in providing music therapy in large clinical organizations, in school settings, and in-home and group settings.
Music lessons at any age provide benefit the individual far beyond learning to play an instrument. Research has found connections between music lessons and nearly every measure of academic achievement, and the list includes benefits ranging from building language skills, increasing IQ, learning discipline, muscle development and motor skills, improving social skills, understanding a variety of cultures, improving reading, memory and attention (the list goes on....). Learning to play an instrument is fun and brings joy to not only the learner but to the entire community.
My education and background began with teaching piano, and obtaining a bachelor's in Piano Pedagogy from Butler University. If you are seeking piano or keyboard lessons, I can modify lessons to meet your individual needs. In addition, with my music therapy education and background, piano lessons can be further adapted to anyone who knows their alphabet up to the letter G, and can count up to 10.
Are you seeking group music programs to add to your list of options for your community? I have experience in implementing youth and adult programming to meet the needs of the individuals and groups. Contact me for more information about how to bring music therapy or music lessons to your group.
